Research shows that children who get sunburns at an early age have an increased risk for developing melanoma and other skin cancers later in life. This free program, originally created for the Indiana Department of Education, adheres to the state’s academic standards. It provides information to help children learn the importance of sun protection. It guides teachers in promoting sun safety behaviors to reduce students’ lifetime risk of developing skin cancers.  Lesson plans, activities, toolkits, and teacher guides are available for elementary, middle, and high school teachers.

Note: Schools may elect to purchase ultraviolet-sensitive wristbands (that turn color when exposed to sunlight) from Outrun the Sun to enhance their sun safety programming.
