We are excited to announce that Outrun the Sun is the sun safety partner of Music for All and Bands of America! Music for All—the nation’s largest presenter of events and programs for scholastic bands—has been inspiring and supporting music education for 50 years, serving nearly 600,000 attendees annually through its programs.
There are more than 20,000 high school band programs across the United States. Some marching bands in larger cities include several hundred students, while others in smaller, rural communities have a few dozen. No matter the size, these students share one thing in common: they spend extensive time outdoors at daily practices and band camps. Often, rehearsals take place on parking lots or football fields with minimal shade, exposing students to UV radiation and increasing their risk for developing skin cancer.
Together, Music for All, Bands of America, and Outrun the Sun are working to educate band students, their parents, and band directors about the importance of sun safety and skin cancer prevention. Messages are shared through podcast interviews, print and broadcast public service announcements, and more.
