Dr. Yan is from Shanghai, China.

Research Focus:

Dr. Yan’s clinical and research interests are in tumor immunology and immunotherapy of melanoma, especially in understanding the mechanisms of anti-tumor immune response to provide opportunities for integration of novel immunotherapies into more effective treatments.  Her goal is to discover predictive and prognostic biomarkers, and to develop treatment strategies with improved clinical outcomes. She has been closely collaborating with Drs. Haidong Dong and Svetomir Markovic’s laboratories at Mayo Clinic and identified new immunoregulatory effects of chemotherapy in metastatic melanoma patients in the setting of immunotherapy.  She was awarded the K12 grant in the Paul Calabresi Program in Clinical Translational Research for her project to understand the immunomodulatory effects of chemotherapy.  Dr. Yan’s current research focus is to understand the cellular and molecular mechanisms of chemo-immunotherapy combination.
